As the travel world starts to reopen…and it will, there will be some positive changes that take place. One thing is for sure, it will never be the same again. In a recent statement from Doug Parker, Chairman and CEO of American Airlines he emphasized some of the positive changes:
- Updated social distancing measures on the aircraft which includes new cleaning measures, leaving middle seats open to help with social distancing on and minimizing in-flight service to eliminate contact
- Flexibility when planning or rebooking upcoming travel
- Carrying over your hard-earned elite status into early 2020
He also emphasized the Airline’s heartfelt commitment to the comfort, health and safety of its passengers and crew. This is so good hear! If you are anything like me, you can’t wait to get out there again and see some sights!!
There Will be Great Deals!
Most airlines have waived their change fees through May 31st, this means that if you book a flight now and change your travel plans, you will have up to one year from the date of booking to use your ticket with NO change fee. There are deals out there and lower airline fees will also be a welcome benefit for those that have been under economic stress. Sounds like a win-win.
Hotels will welcome you back!
The American Hotel and Lodging Association projects the U.S. hotel industry will be back at 70 to 80 percent of what it was by this time next year.
There will be room rate discounts to stimulate travel so, be on the lookout for deals for several months, if not years, to come. Be on the lookout for great hotel rates now, check their cancellation policy to make sure you have flexibility.
The bottom line is that we WILL travel again so don’t be afraid to start planning now!!!
